The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) recently awarded initial accreditation to the Associate Degree Applied Science-Medical Assistant Services program at RWC. The recent peer review conducted by the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (CRB-AAMAE) and CAAHEP’s Board of Directors has recognized the program’s “substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards,” according to Professor Rachael Allstatter, who coordinates the RWC program.
The accreditation allows the graduates to be eligible to sit for the CMA or Certified Medical Assistant credentialing examination. This credential indicates that graduates have achieved significant knowledge in the field of Medical Assisting to display the signature CMA behind their names when signing off on medical records. The RWC students planned and celebrated the achievement with an open-house for faculty and staff on April 12.
