Those students pursuing careers in Spanish will be very pleased to hear what the Foreign Language Department is going to be offering starting this summer. The first of two new courses is a Spanish Education class starting July 13. Professor Deborah Page says, “This course provides a basic knowledge of the Spanish language to students in educational programs and to non-traditional students who are working in the area of education.”
This will be a formalized lecture style class that will meet every Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The prerequisite for this class is two quarters of College Spanish.
The second new class is called Spanish for the Allied Health Professions, and it begins later in the Fall. This five-credit course will help students master “need to know” phrases and routines of the allied health care field. Unlike Spanish Education, this class has no prerequisites.
Both new courses will be taught by Professor Teresa Roig-Torres.
