I have always loved music, everything from rap to metal to new age. (Hey, Yanni rules, so back off!) But the other day at Best Buy, when I was looking at the CDs, it felt different for some reason, like something was missing. Later that night I was watching MTV, when it hit me: “Where have all the rock stars gone?”Back in the 80s and early 90s, rock stars were people guys wanted to be and girls wanted to be with. I am talking about James Hetfield, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Sebastian Bach, and Tommy Lee. These guys were dirty, angry, wild, and unpredictable, both on stage and off. They played music that sent chills down our spines with unbelievably hard hitting guitar riffs and drum beats.
I really just want to know what’s with all the sad guys wearing dark designer clothes and eye shadow? Since when has that been cool? I guess times are changing, and I am getting old, but I would rather see true rock stars than some whining kid any day.
Don’t take my word for it. Play “Enter Sandman” next to “Fat Lip,” and see which one hits you harder, and you will be thinking the same thing I am.
