Guest Opinion: Help fight leukemia and lymphoma

As a former student of the University of Cincinnati, I would like to say “thank you” to all the professors and faculty that made my experience there wonderful and best wishes to all who are graduating. During my pursuit for a B.S. in Human Resources, I met many individuals who had high aspirations to advance in their future careers. It wasn’t until I had my son that I realized that my focus on a career would change course. Having two children during college was by far the biggest challenge, since working and studying operated in conjunction with each other. However, I cannot stress enough the importance to have an education, no matter what you decide to prioritize in your life. A year has gone by since my graduation, and I have been very busy doing what is important to me. I am a wife and mother of two, but that is not all. I am a member and mentor for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. I have met young children who struggle with blood related cancers, and I see how their families change their lives to make for the best. With support, these families become active participants in our Southern Ohio Chapter and give us the inspiration to take each day with a smile. No matter how hard life impacts us, there are others who may have a difficult course in life to get through.

I have enjoyed fundraising and meeting people as I train for marathons. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is to me in helping give back to the community. I am extending my hope that everyone will take a look at my website and pass it along to everyone they know to help us raise money for a cure, because I will keep crossing the finish line of my 26.2 mile marathons until we do. Please visit my website at www.active.com/donate/tntsoh/runamandarun and on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, many thanks for your support.
