In 2007, RWC will offer four different study abroad opportunities, including programs in Costa Rica; Britain and Eastern Europe; Germany; and England, Germany, and Switzerland. Students in these programs will spend from two to four weeks, depending on the program, exploring interesting and educational places. The British Study Program, now in its 11th year, will begin in Great Britain at Harlaxton College, a neo-gothic British manor house, which was used in the filming of “The Haunting.” After two weeks at Harlaxton, the group will fly to Prague, Czech Republic, to study sites pertaining to WWII and the Holocaust. For more information on this program, contact professors Sue Sipple or Lee Baker, who will be leading the group this year.
If that doesn’t interest you, there is also a “Spanish Language and Culture” program in Costa Rica. In this trip students will learn more about the Spanish language and culture. Professor Debbie Themudo and faculty at the Intercultura Institute in Costa Rica will cover special topics in Latin American culture. For more information about Costa Rica, contact Professor Themudo.
A new program this year offers a course titled “European Perspectives on the History of Psychology,” to be taught by Professor Julie Yonker. The program includes two weeks of travel in England, Germany, and Switzerland, visiting sites of historical interest to the field of psychology. For more information about this trip, contact Professor Yonker.
And if you are looking to improve your German language skills, you can join the program to Ilmenau, Germany. To go on this trip you need to have taken German 103 or the equivalent. In addition to the language course, students will also study Contemporary German Culture and Civilization. On the weekends students will travel the surrounding area. For more information contact Professor Debbie Page.
