Nicholas! Many of you may have heard a certain name being shouted in the hallway, very probably towards Nicholas Egbers, our feature student this issue. If you are not familiar with Nick, he is the blonde guy who works in the student cafeteria. At RWC Nick is currently a Business major, but he feels that business may not be the right calling and is thinking about changing to either linguistics or architecture.
He works at Montague Deli (our student cafeteria) most of the time, but every once in a while he will work in the RWC Media Services Office, in Room 115. He is in his third year at RWC and sometimes feels as if he will never get out of here. He finds languages to be the most fun of all subjects to be learned at RWC. He currently is taking German and French.
In the past, Nick graduated from McNicholas High School (of course!) in Anderson. He worked for four years at Coney Island as a lifeguard, but he thinks 2006 will have been his last year there.
He also worked at the Ridge Donut Shop in Pleasant Ridge for one year. At one time in his life, he was into sculpting, but his sculpting has taken a slow decline over the past few years. However, Nick plans to get back into it with the intention of producing some excellent pieces of work.
Some may find it surprising that Nick spends a lot of his spare time at school. He has a younger sister, age 9, with whom he spends time doing stuff like watching TV and going climbing. His other activity he does in his spare time is working on his backyard. He doesn’t always finish things he starts, but thinks that his backyard will be the project he takes from beginning to end.
His future, he says, is a mystery. He feels that his future could lead to many different possibilities. As a result, he tends to be undecided about where to go. He would like to be an architect but feels that probably won’t be where his life goes. His life seems to be heading towards being more involved with linguistics.
Whether he builds you a building or translates some German, Nicholas Egbers is a bundle of hidden talents. The future holds different pathways, and he hopes to settle on one single journey.
