On the Spot: The War in Iraq

How do you feel about President Bush’s veto of the bill for troops to come home from Iraq?

Sarah Beale

“It’s crazy that they are still over there. There’s no reason why the troops should have been over there to begin with.”

Alex Boyles

“I feel that Bush’s veto is an abuse of executive power. He knows very well that it was barely passed, and that the 2/3 majority required to over ride his veto will not be a threat to his plan to stay in Iraq. He’s spitting in the faces of the 3/4 of troops who want to be out of Iraq by next year, as well as their families. Bush says that the American public should ‘support our troops,’ yet we defy their yearning to come back home and end this war. How supportive is that?”

Jeremy Roeper

“I have family over there, and it’s sad to know there is no reason that the troops should be over there. There shouldn’t have been anything to pass because this should have been over a long time ago.”

Angela Marie

“It’s quite sad to know exactly how our commander in chief feels about our troops. I finally know now that the only reason the troops are overseas is for him. I’ve got to give it to him; he has great drive to continue whatever he is trying to accomplish. Right now, who knows what that is?
