Stacie Tumlin, an Allied Health major, has been named the 2007 RWC Honor Student of the Year. The announcement was made in April by Professor Barbara Kunselman, Chair of the RWC Scholarship and Honors Committee.Every year the Scholarship and Honors Committee prepares a list of students who have graduated the previous summer, fall, and winter quarters, and those who will be graduating at the end of the spring quarter with at least a 3.6 GPA.
The student with the highest GPA who has completed at least 80 percent of program credits at RWC while carrying an average of nine credit hours per quarter from each department becomes a candidate.
The committee then interviews the students and receives recommendation letters from faculty identified by the students. After considering all of these elements, the Committee selects one student as the Honor Student of the Year.
Besides Stacie Tumlin, the other candidates for Honor Student of the Year were Kristen Burke (Office Information technology), Maria Wheeler (Behavioral Science), Jannis Schelenz (Electronic Media Communication), Oliva Martin (Vet Tech), Megan Richards (Art & Visual Communication), Joni Vines (Nursing), Sarah Schulte (History), and Brianne Reed (Radiation Therapy).
