Fall Carnival provides food, fun, and job info

On Wednesday, October 3, RWC held its annual Fall Carnival and Job Fair. Although the hit of the afternoon festivities circled around the free hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and baked beans, many other opportunities arose for students, faculty, and staff. While the Walkin’ Cane Band from Cleveland entertained everyone with a healthy dose of electric blues, employers from all over the Tri-state area laid claim to the RWC campus lawn in search of students looking to fill roles in their companies.

Sean Lawrence, a representative of US Bank, said that he gets positive feedback from RWC students every year. “The students I get from Raymond Walters every year are seen as leaders in our company. Brad Humpfrys, who is currently a student here now, is going for a promotion as an assistant manager already. These are the types of employees we expect to receive when we come to Raymond Walters,” said Lawrence.

Other employers, from Mercy Hospital to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, also made their presence felt at the Job Fair. Some of the most popular positions available from the employers were in customer service or data entry, but the wide variety still remained. There was something there for everyone.

Courtney Myrick, a first year student of RWC who compiled numerous business cards, applications, and free candy, really enjoyed the Career Fair. “It provides lots of different opportunities for lots of different people,” she said. “This is really good for college students in search of jobs that are more career oriented.”
