National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 through October 15 each year. To celebrate Hispanic month, RWC is recognizing the Hispanic culture through several activities:* A display of books written by Hispanic authors and about Hispanic culture, and other cultural artifacts has been created by Michelle McKinney of the RWC Library and is presented in the display case outside the Muntz Library. The RWC community is encouraged to view this colorful and informative display, which will be featured through October 15.
* On October 10, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Professor Deborah Themudo, of the RWC Foreign Language Department, hosted a booth focusing on the RWC Study Abroad programs in Hispanic countries. Information on studying abroad opportunities in Hispanic/Latino countries was made available. Included was the Costa Rica program sponsored by the RWC Study Abroad Committee, coming in June, and the class in Madrid that will be taught by Debbie Themudo and sponsored through the University Consortium, to be held July 1-25. Students and employees were encouraged to learn about these opportunities to travel and learn in a Hispanic/Latino culture.
* On October 10, Montague’s Cafe featured a Hispanic Combo meal in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. This activity was sponsored by Montague’s and the RWC Multicultural Affairs Office.
