Thanks to the generosity of Scholastic Inc., First Book-UC RWC recently distributed new books to children from the RWC Child Care Center in celebration of Make a Difference Day.Make a Difference Day is a national day of helping others hosted by USA Weekend Magazine. The 17th Annual Make a Difference Day was celebrated on Saturday, October 27.
On Tuesday, October 23, First Book UC-RWC hosted what was termed a “Spook-tacular” Book Reading Party and handed out copies of “Mommy,” Maurice Sendak’s first pop-up book.
First Book UC-RWC is a part of First Book’s national network of volunteer-led advisory boards who provide new books to children in need in communities across the country.
First Book University of Cincinnati- Raymond Walters College is working hard to bring “the magic of books” to children in the Hamilton, Butler, Clermont, and Brown county communities. Since beginning in 2004, the group has provided over 13,000 new books to over 12 literacy-based programs in Cincinnati, according to Helen Kegler, who directs the RWC program.
