As the number of smokers increases throughout the country, so do the amount of smokers here at RWC. Despite much controversy and debate, students continue to inhabit outside campus areas to fulfill their smoking needs whenever they get the chance. Some of our very own RWC students seemed to have some logical answers and solutions to the debate when asked if a campus-wide smoking ban should be placed on RWC.
Jazmine Stokes
“I don’t think that smoking should be banned on campus. It’s already banned indoors, so smoking outside really is not a big deal. Personally I’m not a fan of it, but as long as nobody’s blowing smoke in my face, they’re cool!”
Lindsay Robbins
“A smoking ban on campus is ridiculous. People already can’t smoke in restaurants and bars, so at least let them smoke outside! School is stressful enough!”
Vince Cunningham
“Yes, I think there should be a campus-wide smoking ban. People can die from second hand smoke. I don’t smoke, and I’m trying to live as long as possible.”
Steve Busam
“No, there should not be a campus-wide smoking ban. It would take away our basic rights to do whatever we want. If the government takes our right to smoke away, then that’s fine, but not the University. I think we should have a separate smoking section of our own anyway.
