There are a few things I want to make sure everyone is aware of before I describe Student Government’s latest dilemma.Enrollment is up about 1.3%, meaning that the college is slowly getting a larger student body, which is always good. Thank you to those who are attending, and congratulations on making it into college!
About 110 students attended LATE Registration (yes, there was an official name change). This is not a good sign. Please realize that your life will be much easier and less stressful if you make your schedule before this particular event. It saves you from a wacky schedule and not getting the classes you need due to closure, and it saves the advisors from trying to piece together a schedule out of the remnants of availibility that remain at that time.
I am now the Vice President of RWC’s Student Government and have a new responsibility: recruiting. We need help in so many areas; a simple plea just will not cut it.
We need the following:
(1) Members. We currently have seven members, and we need more. It’s a great way to get involved with college governance, have contact with many faculty, administration and staff, and belong to a group of students that try their best to have the student body included in decisions that are made that will effect them.
(2) Committee Members. SG Members are required to be on at least one committee, but if an individual doesn’t have time to be a member and meets the requirements, he or she can serve on a committee. Committees meet anywhere from once a quarter to once a month and try to accommodate all attendees’ schedules when scheduling their meetings. The committees are Building and Grounds, Strategic Planning, Student Affairs, Cultural Diversity, and a College Computer Advisory Committee (soon to be the “Technology Committee”).
(3) Interested Souls. Anyone interested in learning more about Student Government can contact me at or our SG President, Edward Lemen, at . You could also stop by our office on the second floor of Muntz, right next to Room 265.
