As I have always done, I prepared myself for an action packed Super Bowl between the Giants and the Patriots and to watch Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers perform the halftime show. The Super Bowl is one of many sporting championships that are seen by millions of people across the globe. The Super Bowl halftime show is also an event in its own right.
This year Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers took the stage, looking like old men but playing like rock stars in an amazing performance.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers first performed “American Girl,” which I felt sounded better than I had ever heard it before, and it sounded so clear and crisp. Once they were done with the first song, they sang “I Won’t Back Down,” which has always been a classic in my book . It was performed with such an aggressive and exciting nature that it was great.
The next song Tom Petty performed was “Free Fallin,” which was just as well performed as the previous two. The last song they performed though was “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” This song was great to end the halftime show, because it brought everyone to their feet once they started jamming away, and it had to be their best performance of the night.
The halftime show this year was great and one of the best halftime shows I have seen to this day. After the halftime the Giants went on to become champions of the world and the Patriots left with their patriotism bruised.
