Books: Jon Krakauer’s chilling account of Everest climb

Jon Krakauer’s “Into Thin Air” provides a personal eye witness account of Krakauer’s climb up Mount Everest. The story begins with high hopes, but Krakauer details how this climb up Mount Everest proved to be fatal. Krakauer’s account is one of the most chilling books I’ve ever read. The emotions and struggle within the story are gripping from beginning to end. Krakauer also gives complete and candid detail regarding the deaths of eight climbers, and the “rogue storm” that stranded the rest of his climbing party.

Although the beginning of Krakauer’s account is dull and boring, the dangers of Mount Everest take the story to a different level. What seems to be even more amazing than Krakauer’s own survival is the survival of some of the remaining climbers. To hear their story from a first hand account really puts the story into perspective. This book will definitely entertain any type of reader.
