For this issue of music review, I was told to check out a music video on Youtube for a song called “Tunak Tunak,” by Daler Mehndi. This music video was brought to my attention by a friend. So I visited YouTube and found the music video. To my surprise I actually got used to the rhythm of the song and melody, but I could not understand the language they were speaking. The singers in the video are dressed in bright colored robes and headdresses, while performing their song on a digital background. I mention this music video because at this time when all students are cramming for tests and frustrated over grades, we could all use a good laugh. Not to say that this video isn’t serious but it is rather humorous and a good laugh.
Also in the music world, last week, The Game, a hip hop artist, was jailed after being charged with possessing a firearm while in a school zone, which is a felony. The Game decided not to go to trial because he felt that it was not worth wasting the money and came to a plea deal with attorneys. The Game will be serving 60 days in jail with 160 hours of community service and three years’ probation.
