Let’s face it, moth-flying-out-of-your-wallet-broke students, no one in his right mind would pay for something if he knew that it was available right at his fingertips for free. Perhaps the greatest gift of this wonderful World Wide Web invention are those little known pages that give you things like music and movies for the price of absolutely nothing. I am not advocating theft, make no mistake; but with the ever-increasing price of just about everything in this world, I am merely here to offer you a few places to go to view a film or listen to a record that might not be worth the price of admission in the first place. Enough of my introduction. You obviously want those addresses ASAP.
Watch Movies: http://www.watch-movies.net
This website is a cinematic goldmine! Just about every movie that is in theatres is available for your consumption. The beauty of this site is that what they do is absolutely legal. Their purpose is to provide links to other sites (Google, Rapidshare, Youtube, etc.) that actually host the bootlegged movies; thus they will never get shut down.
They also provide a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” voting system to report broken links. Information like that is invaluable when dealing with getting movies for free. In the last week, I have viewed “Rambo” and “There Will Be Blood,” thanks to this magical place. One of the movies is definitely worth putting my money down and viewing in a theatre (which I plan on doing), while the other probably shouldn’t have been made.
Guess which one was which? You test drive a car at the dealership before you purchase it and give the smooth talking salesman a hefty commission. Why shouldn’t you be able to do the same with films whose trailers tell you next to nothing about their merit and value? It is places like Watch-movies.net that provide you with this option, and I am very thankful it exists.
Soulseek: http://www.slsknet.org
Oh, brother, the RIAA and their file-sharing witch hunt still pops up from time to time. It makes you feel a little paranoid and uneasy about stealing your music from spyware monsters like Kaaza and Limewire, right? Fear not, pirates. I’ve got you covered.
Soulseek is an ad-free, spyware free file sharing program. It is based on peer-to-peer technology, so you aren’t technically stealing. You are merely sharing the files you choose to share with another user. You listen to music with your buddies, correct? That is essentially what you are doing with this program.
I use this for music, more than anything. Movies, software, etc. are also available on here as well. Soulseek’s true intention is to have an outlet for independent artists to share their work in an ever-growing industry. For that, they do ask that copyrighted material is acknowledged within your shares. Not too much to ask for having almost every piece of recorded music at your feet, huh? That’s what I thought.
Enjoy these two mounds of media as much as your little hearts will allow. They have brought a ton of happiness to my life and wallet, and I hope they put a smile on your face just the same.
