The Feature student for this issue is Amber Wooten, RWC’s Outstanding Student of the Year for 2008. Amber was born in Findlay, Ohio, on October 3, 1984. An active member of RWC Student Government, serving this year as Secretary, she is also a Senator, which means that every Wednesday evening she spends time on Main Campus maintaining lines of communication between Main Campus and the RWC Campus. she is also a constant workaholic when it comes to homework. She will not stop until it is done. She is also a very competitive softball player.
When Amber was named Outstanding Student of the year, she was very excited, because she has always worked her hardest to make sure she could get the best possible grade in her classes.
The award is one of the most prestigious awards given at RWC. To receive the award, it takes dedication to studies while juggling other aspects of life, be it professional, personal, or extracurricular.
Despite insufficient time, Amber still makes time to volunteer her time to the Pathways group on the RWC campus. She doesn’t volunteer her time to Pathways because it’s required for her degree; she does it because she enjoys helping those in the program.
On top of that, she drives home to Findlay every weekend to work in the local hospital there.
Somehow, she managed to make the Dean’s List last quarter and probably will this quarter as well.
Since Amber received the award, she now feels the full benefit of working hard and the payoff of finishing at the top of her game. Amber is thankful to the teachers and staff who have helped her over the course of her college experience.
