Bengals: Who Dey…Who D’oh!

The Cincinnati Bengals have gone from being a great team, to criminals, and now to being just plain horrible. With Carson Palmer sidelined for what could be the remainder of this pitiful season, there is a very real possibility looming in the air that the Bengals could be perfect, at losing. Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans gave them the distinct title as the NFL’s worst team. Currently, there is one other team without a win, the Detroit Lions. If only they played Detroit.

Personally I believe the Bengals lack enough all-around talent to go winless. Their remaining schedule proves it, with tough games at home against Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington; it doesn’t get any easier on the road when they face Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. Shall we begin digging their grave now?

What will become of a team that just two years ago was a win away from the Holy Grail of professional football, the Super Bowl? Most, like me, are puzzled as to how a team can manage to spoil a perfectly good Sunday. Some of the blame must fall on head coach Marvin Lewis. He has been consistently mediocre, his philosophy must not include discipline of any sort, and now being 0-8 he may finally get the axe.

No NFL team has ever gone 0-16. Keep hope alive for a lone win on December 28 when the Bengals host the Kansas City Chiefs (1-6) in their season finale. Until then, watch in stride and try to keep from pulling too much hair out in disbelief.
