RWC honors the man behind the Vet Tech Building

On October 15, faculty and staff in the RWC Veterinary Technology program held a surprise party for State Representative Shawn Webster, in honor of his retirement from the Ohio House of Representatives. Webster, who is not only a politician but also a practicing veterinarian, was instrumental in helping the College to get funding from the State to build the Vet Tech building here in 2005.

Last week, friends and faculty all gathered with a common goal to recognize Webster’s career.

Many V.I.P. members of UC and Raymond Walters College attended the farewell celebration, including Dr. Don O’Meara (Dean of RWC), Dr. Anthony Perzigian (Sr. Vice President and Provost UC), Dr. David Bauman (Professor Emeritus and former Head of the RWC Vet Tech program), and State Senator Bill Seitz.

Seitz was Shawn Webster’s roommate in college, and he spoke a few words about his friend. “Shawn has always had passion about the things he believes in,” Seitz said.

Each V.I.P. gave a brief speech in honor of Webster, with nothing but kind words to say about him.

As a result of Webster’s efforts, the College received $400,000 from the State for the Vet Tech project.
