Child Care Center gets highest rating

In September, the RWC Child Care Center met all of the benchmarks and was given the highest three-star rating from Step Up To Quality, a voluntary, three-star rating system created by the Bureau of Child Care and Development under the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This system tries to strengthen the quality of early care and education programs in Ohio. It prepares children to be successful in school and in life. In order to receive a one, two, or three-star rating, an early care or education program must meet the quality benchmarks for the State of Ohio.

Step Up To Quality Three-Star Centers have the lowest teacher/child ratios allowing children to interact more closely with the teacher.

All lead teachers have at least an AA degree in early childhood education or Career Pathways Level 3, insuring that they have had the education to prepare them for the jobs. Teachers and the administrator receive 15 hours of child development training per year, above licensing requirements, giving them the ability to assess children’s progress and prepare them for their next step.

Finally, the program provides at least three employee benefits to staff members, meaning the employees are valued.
