Do you believe in the paranormal? If you do then you’ll definitely want to check out forgottenoh.com. It has all the information you’ll need to find real haunted places in your hometown. This website is dedicated to discussing all the weird things that happen within the borders of Ohio. Forgotten Ohio was created by a guy named Andrew Henderson around 1999. Henderson has written two books called “Forgotten Columbus” and “Weird Ohio.”
When you open the first page of the Forgotten Ohio website, you must scroll down to the bottom and click on the skeleton to enter the main site. As the main site appears, it offers you four key options to choose from: explorations, creepy cemeteries, ghost towns, and hauntings.
The most popular option is “Ohio Hauntings.” You enter this page to find a big blue state of Ohio, giving you access to click on the counties, where you can pull up cities with nearby hauntings.
In addition, you can narrow your search to just looking up abandoned buildings, parks, prisons, schools, roads/bridges, restaurants, theaters, and hospitals.
Now, when you follow these links up, they are only supposed stories of hauntings. They could be true or fictional. It is all based on whether you believe or conjure up the courage to go see for yourself.
Henderson has researched and visited some of these places, leaving us details of his trips and encounters. You would find this in the “Investigations” section.
You can also view ghostly encounters people have had and emailed the website about.
Henderson encourages everyone to use the website as a travel guide and then write to him about any experiences.
The website allows for emailed responses based on your own reactions or visits you have pursued based on the places he has listed or new places he would be interested in hearing about.
The only thing I didn’t see on the website that could be more helpful was exact locations or directions to the places.
Other than that, it is a really neat and suspenseful website.
I am intrigued by the paranormal and have always wanted to experience something myself. I have visited many of these places with my groups of friends and almost got arrested for trespassing at one. So I would say be careful if you choose to go and do not trespass or vandalize property. Visit forgottenoh.com and see if it can make you a believer.
