Campus Police issue reminders about vehicles on campus

Starting last week, RWC Campus Police began to issue citations for various parking violations in and around campus. The big issue that they are facing is parking violations. On average, Officer Fred Davidson and Officer Felicia Cruse write about 48-50 parking citations a day. Many of those citations are students parking in faculty/staff parking stalls. The following rules apply to parking at Raymond Walters:

1. Yellow Marked Stalls–Faculty & Staff. These spaces are clearly marked with signs sticking in the little islands. If you have any questions, contact Campus Police.

2. Handicap Parking–no exceptions. You must have a State decal visible on the dashboard or hanging from your mirror, or a handicap symbol on your license plate.

3. Fire Lanes–clearly marked. If you are found parked in a fire lane, you will be issued a parking citation.

Failure to pay or appeal the citation within five days of it being issued will cause the fines to be doubled. Any unpaid fines will prevent the student from future registration and receiving grades. Repeat violators could also end up having their car towed at their expense. For more information, speak to Officer Davidson or Officer Cruse in Room134 Muntz.

To clear up any issues, questions or doubts, Officer Fred Davidson and Officer Felicia Cruse are certified police officers. They are authorized, as members of the University of Cincinnati Police Department, to enforce all criminal and state traffic laws on and around campus.

Campus Police would also like to remind students, staff and visitors that the posted speed limit on campus is 15 mph. Plainfield Road, in front of campus, is 25 mph. Students need to be mindful that Blue Ash Elementary School is right next door. Be courteous to parents and busses dropping of and picking up students. Another reason why Campus Police are asking students to slow down is the weather. Roads have been slick the past couple of weeks, and it takes a split second to have an accident.

Reminder to all students: Do not be surprised if you see our friends from the Blue Ash Police Department on and around Campus. They work closely with our Campus Safety staff.
