Chez Nora has gone from humble beginnings to become one of the most popular hang out spots in the Cincinnati Area. Located in MainStrasse Village, in Covington, Kentucky, Chez Nora has become a symbol of what “The Village” has to offer. When owners Pati & Jimmi Gilliece bought the bar from the previous owner, Nora Dempsey in 1994, it was just a one room bar and resteraunt. Now, after extensive renovations in the late 90’s, Chez Nora now offers a 60 seat non-smoking room, and a 70 seat banquet room on the second floor. Saving the best for last, on the third floor is the rooftop terrace. This floor serves two purposes: To give guests a great view of the Cincinnati skyline, and also to provide a venue for artists to come to entertain and help guests forget about their problems.
If you come to hear the boogie woogie beat of Rick Nye and his group, or come to hear the smooth blues from Phil Blank and his trio of talented musicians, you will not be disappointed. Chez Nora has live music pretty much all week unless they have other events going on. You can visit their website at www.cheznora.com for a complete list of music events and a full menu.
I happened to come across Chez Nora about three years ago on my way home from work. I stopped in and am I glad I did. I have been going ever since. Give it a chance. Odds are you will have a fun experience and become a Chez Nora regular.
