Internationally renowned jazz pianist, teacher, and motivator, Harry Pickens will lead his Jazz trio in a romantic Valentine’s Day concert at RWC the evening of February 14. The concert will be the final performance of the 2008-2009 Rhythm N Blue Ash season. For the concert, audience members are encouraged to submit written love stories from their lives and request favorite love songs. The trio will incorporate the audience’s stories and requests throughout the show, improvising based on their themes.
Pickens, who returns to RWC after a popular 2007 performance, promises a concert with “many of the timeless love songs of the American popular song tradition. Come prepared to have your romantic heart awakened.”
Pickens, an expert Jazz improviser, has shared the stage with legends, including Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, and Freddie Hubbard. He enjoys engaging his audience through music and stories, inspiring connection with the world through the power of music.
The Harry Pickens Trio’s recent album, entitled “The Shadow of Your Smile” (2008), aims to produce “the ultimate romantic evening,” and Pickens hopes the music “warms your heart, touches your soul, and brings you what you need.”
Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $10 per person and $5 for students; parking is free. To order, call (513) 745-5705 or visit www.rwc.uc.edu.
