Hope for students with disabilities

Some students with disabilities are wondering if there is ever help for them after high school when they get into college. The answer is that there is always help for students with disabilities who enter college. Some students don’t know what’s out there for them, so they won’t do anything to get the help they need. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There is help for everyone out there. A law for persons with disabilities states: “No otherwise qualified persons with a disability in the United States shall solely by reason of disability be denied the benefits of, be excluded from participation or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving financial assistance.”

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guarantees and protects all person(s) with any kind of disabilities. The ADA defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

Any student with a disability can succeed and do just as well in college as they did in high school.
