How to have a cheap, airport-free spring break

With spring break rapidly approaching, students are looking for things to do. The problem is, with the state of our economy, many cannot afford or do not want to spend the money to travel to a typical spring break destination. There are many ways to experience the feeling of being on spring break without much money and without even going very far. Here is a list of things people love about spring break and ways to incorporate them into your time off without the money or the travel:

1. The beach! Gather a group of friends for a game of sand volleyball. Take off your shoes and relax in the sand! For added effect, bring some lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels and hang out all day!

2. Tanning! Treat yourself to a new bottle of sunless tanning spray. Works like a charm and it’s much safer and quicker than real sun-bathing.

3. Party! Make plans to go out to places you have never been to. Doing something new will make you feel like these nights were special.

4. Pamper yourself! Vacations often involve going to a spa or playing golf all day with friends. You can make appointments at a luxury spa with friends, but this will most likely be very expensive. For a cheaper type of pampering, try calling a massage or cosmetology school. These places often offer services for very low prices because they are done by students.

5. Activities! A real vacation often involves riding jet skis, going parasailing, or whatever adventure you prefer. Why not try something new around here?

You can learn how to skydive at Skydiving Greene Country (www.skydiveohio.com), which is only a little more than an hour drive and offers discount pricing for all students!

Take a ride in a hot air balloon with Balloon Adventures which is in Milford (www.hotairballoonohio.com).

For the less adventurous or for students with children, Krazy City is a new attraction located inside of Tri-County mall and has glo-bowling, rock climbing, putt-putt golf, arcade games, a restaurant, and more.

Similar to this and right down the street is Dave and Busters, a restaurant/arcade center, which allows kids to play fun games while parents enjoy dinner!
