UC Metro passengers must now purchase card

Starting Spring Quarter, UC students, faculty, and staff who ride the Metro to or from school will be required to purchase a UC Metro card. As students of UC, we have recently had the privilege of using the Metro bus system as a way to commute to and from our campus for free as a result of funding provided by the Student Government and other organizations.

A contract has been in the works to get the same stipulations, but as of Spring Quarter, policies are changing, and everyone will now have to purchase a UC Metro card.

The cost for Spring quarter will be $10 for students, and $50 for faculty and staff. Registration for a Spring card will begin March 27. Your card will then be valid until June 29.

If you need a card for Summer Quarter, the cost is $15 for students, and $60 for faculty and staff. Registration for a summer card begins in June and will be valid through September 30.

If you hold a winter card, it is valid until April 30.
