Campus Safety issues reminders

Campus Safety would like to remind the Raymond Walters Community about the parking rules on campus, including the following: Yellow Marked Stalls: Faculty and Staff. These spaces are clearly marked with signs sticking in the little islands.

Handicap Parking: No exceptions. You must have a state decal visible on the dashboard or hanging from your mirror, or a handicap symbol on your license plate.

Fire Lanes are clearly marked. If you are found parked in a fire lane, you will be issued a parking citation.

Fines range from $15 to $75. Failure to pay or appeal the citation within five days of it being issued will lead the fines to be doubled. Any unpaid fines will prevent the student from future registration and receiving grades. Repeat violators could also end up having their car towed at their expense. For more information, speak to Officer Cruse or a Campus Security Officer in Room 134 Muntz.

To clear up any issues, questions or doubts, Officer Felicia Cruse is a certified police officer. She is authorized, as a member of the University Of Cincinnati Police Department, to enforce all criminal and state traffic laws on and around campus.
Campus Police would also like to remind students, staff and visitors that the posted speed limit on campus is 15 mph. Plainfield Road, in front of campus, is 25 mph. Students need to be mindful that Blue Ash Elementary School is right next door. Be courteous to parents and busses dropping of and picking up students. Another reason why Campus Police are asking students to slow down is the weather. Wet roads in springtime require extra caution.

Do not be surprised to see officers from the Blue Ash Police Department on and around campus. They work closely with UC Campus Safety staff.

Campus Safety would also like to issue the following reminders:

Lost and Found is located in the Security Office, in Muntz Hall Room 134. See a member of the Public Safety Staff and they will take down information.

Crime Prevention: Even though the campus is relatively crime free, it is up to all members of the campus community to practice crime prevention techniques. To do this, students are encouraged to keep books and all personal belongings either on their person or within sight. If students notice anything out of the ordinary, campus safety wants to hear about it.

Help Phones are strategically placed throughout campus. They can be found in the parking lots and elevators. These help phones may be used in emergencies to contact the Public Safety Communications Center in Clifton. Area rescue assistance phones are also located in designated stairwells. Be calm and state your problem and a public safety officer will be dispatched. If you are not near any phones and would like an officer dispatched to where you are, call University of Cincinnati Police Dispatch at 513-556-1111 or Campus Security at 513-745-5707. If it is a true emergency call 911.

Motorist Assistance: If you need a jump start, help with lock out, feel free to either use one of the help phones or go to the security office in Muntz Hall and a member of the public safety staff will be glad to assist you.

How to report crime or annoyance: Even though Raymond Walters College is a relatively safe campus, Campus Safety would like to remind the campus community that it is not completely immune from crime. If you are the victim of a crime, or have a situation that may threaten your safety and well being while on campus property, feel free to approach any member of the campus safety staff.
