How has the economy affected your job search for the summer?
Kristy Blatt
“I see myself as lucky because I already have a job as a cashier at Culvers in Mason. I will continue to work through the summer, but I think the economy will still have an effect on my job this summer. I think it will be harder to get hours this summer, because employees at my work will want to make as much money as possible, but with the bad economy, customers may not be going out to eat as much as they had in the past.”

I am concerned about finding jobs in this economy. I will soon be graduating and will need to find a permanent job soon. I had trouble finding the part-time job I have now as a server at Max and Ermas. When I was looking for a job not too long ago, I applied at so many places. I applied for jobs I found online, in newspaper ads, and in person but still did not get hired. Luckily, a friend was able to get me a job. I think the best way to find jobs will be through people you know.”

“I’m not currently employed and I’m having trouble finding work. I worked as a deejay in New Orleans, where I used to reside, but I have not had any gigs in Cincinnati.”

I don’t think that I will be affected by the economy because I have a job. I work at Pioneer Vending, which is thriving in the bad economy. The company I work for is doing very well right now. The bad economy has created a lot of unemployment, meaning there are more people out of work that sit at bars or places we provide vending for. The demand for our products and services is actually rising. I’m not worried at all about losing my job or not getting enough hours.
