Video Studio Production, a class taken by RWC Electronic Media Technology students, put on a good show last quarter. The video, titled “No Kitchen, No problem,” teaches college students how to cook with the things they already have in their dorm rooms.According to Chris Gantzer, producer of the video, everyone had a good time doing the project. “The topic might have been chosen because everyone got to eat!” he laughed.
The students were able to eat the makings at the end of the class. They once used a clothes iron to make things such as a grilled cheese sandwich.
This was a hands on class with a talk show type show. The show was produced on all UCTV stations, including RWCTV, which go to the dorms on the Uptown campus.
Gantzer explained how he has some restaurant experience and thought it was a good idea to help solve a problem when you are limited with your cooking supplies.
Aaron Allen a member of the class last quarter said, “I’m an audio guy, and to go through this class really helped me open up and get used to working with some of the video equipment and to get an idea of how live video production works.”
Allen was a technical director during one of these class episodes as well as a camera operator the other two and explained that his favorite part was setting up the studio and getting all the lights up.
“If you’re thinking about taking this class, do it, because it’s a great experience,” Allen advised.
The class makes three episodes each year for their chosen topic. In this case one episode was for breakfast, one was for lunch and the other for dinner.
Each episode showed how to make a certain recipe. To see any of the episodes of “No Kitchen No problem,” just go to youtube.com and type in “No kitchen No problem” in the search box.
