On Wednesday, May 27, the RWC eMedia Communications Department held a ceremony in the Library to acknowledge an important donation of over 700 books and media items by retiring UC Professor Manfred K. Wolfram. Dr. Wolfram is retiring from the Electronic Media division at the UC College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).
The RWC library will make items in the donation available to students and faculty to support research and production activities in RWC Electronic Media Communications programs and courses. The donation was made in recognition of the quality programs offered by the RWC eMedia Communications Department as a means to foster future collaborations between RWC and CCM. This includes promoting the transfer of graduates from the RWC Associate Degree in Applied Science in Electronic Media Technology into the CCM baccalaureate program in Electronic Media.
Dr. Wolfram’s collections of books, pamphlets, and dozens of other media items include textbooks, monographs, histories, technical guides, and video materials in various subject areas. Video materials include film studies and film history, media aesthetics, journalism, media writing, broadcasting history, and video production and history.
Other items included a small collection of German language books that will be supporting the foreign language courses at RWC.
You will be able to see the books in the general collection of the RWC library while more of the specialized titles and technical resources will be held in the department library of Electronic Media Communications. Some of the media items will be included in the TV history and media archives of the eMedia Communications Department.
There will be a selection of donated items on display in a case right outside the Library during regular college hours until June 5.
