Not far from our beloved Kings Island, home of the “Haunt,” where ghosts and ghouls come out to play, is an old tattered factory much more frightening and full of mystery than anything at Kings Island. During the 1860s, the Peters Cartridge Company was constructed. It made ammunition, such as bullets and cannonballs, for the Union Army during the Civil War. In the early days, this factory was a subject to accidents, including machinery and testing that would leave employees maimed or deaf. There were also many explosions and fires that occurred at the factory.

In 1944 munitions work had stopped at the Peters Cartridge Company. But the factory itself was still alive and well. Many different owners had purchased it and used it to the end of the 1950s when the building officially closed down.
Not surprisingly, the Peters Cartridge Company building is rumored to be haunted. In many cases, these rumors would makes sense. During the years of Peters factory, there were many fatalities that would validate the stories behind the ghosts.
It is said that apparently you can hear footsteps across the roof and the upper floors late at night. Also the elevator cables sometimes shake for no apparent reason. Since the factory is located next to the Loveland Bike Trail, riders and drivers going by sometime say they can see ghosts appear from the upper windows.
Yet, for all ghost hunters and adventurers, this factory is a very dangerous place to explore. Not only is there constant security by the Hamilton Township Police Department, but there are also many open elevator shafts and holes in the floors everywhere. Currently different sections of the building are used for storage. There is also an art studio located in a small portion of the factory. Inside this broken and tattered mysterious factory is a ghost story just exploding to be told.
