Nominate a Deserving RWC Staff Member

RWC Students: Is there a Raymond Walters College staff member who has been especially helpful to you? Someone who has gone out of their way, either to answer a specific question or in a broader way? Who made sure that you were treated as a valued member of the RWC community, and that you had all the information you need to succeed? A person who you think deserves to be recognized for his or her daily professionalism, leadership or dedication to life at RWC?If so, you should consider nominating that person for the next Staff Distinguished Service Award.

The Staff Distinguished Service Award, given once a year, honors a staff member who has, over time, demonstrated outstanding contributions to the college.

The award includes recognition at the all-campus Distinguished Awards ceremony in April, plus a crystal award and a cash bonus. The honoree’s name will also be added to the plaques that are on display in the Library. The first award was presented by Dean Barbara Bardes in 1996 to Mary Lou Cook, of the Biology department, and many of the recipients are still active staff members.

If you don’t know the name of the staff members who helped you, try asking their coworkers, a fellow student or one of your professors. Tell them which office or department the person works in, or describe what they did for you, or what they looked or sounded like.

For information about how to nominate a staff member for the Staff Distinguished Service Award, talk to your Student Government representatives or stop by the eMedia Services office in Muntz 113 (across from the Mailroom) and ask for Neil.

Nominations are not due until January, but you may need to contact people to help you make a nomination, so don’t put it off until Winter Quarter!
