Campus Veterans Group Forming

RWC Security Officer Jeffery M. Polly and Mary Lou Ellison of the RWC Disabilities Services Office have joined to create a campus group for students, faculty, or staff who are military veterans. Officer Polly, a Marine Corps veteran, called this an opportunity for veterans to come together to get answers to their questions, to help with transitioning to college or civilian life, or to find a mentor with whom to talk.

He said the goal of the group is to provide resources to help the veterans keep moving towards a successful future.

Officer Polly’s main emphasis is to promote camaraderie and pride among the veterans and to enhance the importance of what it means to be a veteran.

Polly also wants to encourage staff and faculty members who are veterans leading a successful life and career to be able to reach out and speak with more recent veterans who are currently working on their education.

The first meeting will be held on February 4 at 1 p.m. in Muntz 111, followed by a second meeting February 9 at 5 p.m. in SAHB 100.

This will provide an opportunity to share new ideas and establish a time where veterans can come together and put forward any psychological and/or personal needs they may have.
