Hosts Needed for Visiting French Students

Retired RWC French Professor Judy Baughin is looking for two host families for two French students from Paris who would like to visit the Greater Cincinnati area this summer. They are both male-one is 17 and the other is 18-and will be graduating from high school in June. “They want to improve their English and experience American life,” Baughin said.Silouane Baffoy, 18 years old, was here for a short time two years ago. He loved Cincinnati and wants to come back, Baughin explained. “I know him well,” she said, “and I have known his parents for years. His mother was an exchange student of mine in the late 70s. I was with Silouane in Paris last October. He is a delightful young man.”

He plans to continue his studies this fall at the university, majoring in science and math. He is also interested in languages and has studied both English and Spanish.

The other student is Bertrand Hanon, who is 17 years old, and was also here two summers ago. He loves languages and has studied English and German, according to Baughin.

“Both young men are good friends,” Baughin said. “Bertrand loves sports, likes to read, and is the oldest of a family of six children. He also wants to improve his English. He is fairly fluent in German.”

While the dates for their arrival are not definite, Silouane would like to come between July 10 and July 31, Baughin said, and Bertrand, the middle of July to the middle of August. In June, they will be preparing for their comprehensive exams, which every student in France must pass in order to graduate from high school.
