Two groups from RWC Multi-Cultural Student Affairs, the Student Parent Support Group and the Akwaaba club, hosted a fundraiser in Muntz Hall Lobby on January 22 and 26 to benefit Haitian earthquake victims. The groups were able to collect a total of $400.66 for the Haiti relief efforts, all of which went to the American Red Cross International Response Fund for Haiti earthquake victims. “True compassion was shown for those in Haiti devastated by the earthquake,” said Helen Kegler, Director of RWC Multi-Cultural Student Affairs. “Individuals gave willingly and genuinely. Raymond Walters shines again for rising to the occasion with true compassion when disaster strikes.”
Others at RWC have also been involved in relief efforts for Haiti. Student Government collected toiletries and canned goods and donated them to Matthew 25 Ministries, a charity that supports international causes.
RWC staff member Linda Jacobs and her husband Steve began their own collection of goods, which was also donated to Matthew 25 Ministries.
