The Writing Center at RWC is offering the following four non-credit courses during spring quarter:English Skills Tutorial (EST) class helps students practice their English skills or helps those who have English as their second language. Students get the opportunity to work on English grammar, reading, writing, and/or speaking skills in a one-on-one tutorial. Students will meet with an academic tutor for 50 minutes every week from March 29-June 4.
In the English Language Pronunciation (ELP) class, students will learn how to generate stress patterns, use intonation, put reductions/liaisons into practice, and produce and use words in context. This class is highly interactive. Peggy Strohmaier teaches the class, which will meet on Tuesdays from 1-2:20 p.m., March 30-June 1.
English Conversation Circle (ECC) will help English as a Second Language (ESL) students improve their spoken English. Students must have some basic knowledge of English. The class will meet on Thursdays from 1-2:20 p.m., April 1-June 3. Peggy Strohmaier will also facilitate this class.
The Grammar and Editing (G & E) class, led by Mei Ying Minnich, is designed for American and ESL students who want to refresh, strengthen, and practice Standard American Written English. It will meet from 1-2:20 p.m. on Fridays from April 2-June 4.
All classes cost $300 for ten sessions. All classes except for the EST class have space for five to seven students.
