“What Ain’t Yours,” the seven-minute film entered by RWC Electronic Media Technology students, took home the Best in Show Award at the College Movie Festival. The group, Team Fun-kaar, also received awards for Best Use of Required Elements and for being runner up for the Block B Audience Choice Award. Best in Show and Best Use of Required Elements were awarded to the team by a panel of judges comprised of 18 professionals working in the media field. This was the eMedia Communications Department’s first year participating in the festival.
In video feedback, the panel of professional judges praised “What Ain’t Yours” for its gripping story. They were also impressed with Team Fun-kaar’s technical skills, saying they were the only team to correctly use ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording).
Team leader Daniel Sammons, Jr. had this to say on his YouTube page. “While we took the big trophy at the end, all of the movies put forth amazing effort and truly did our medium justice,” he wrote. “Everyone did a great job, and I can speak for our entire team and department in saying that it was an honor to compete against [their] work in this festival.”
H. Michael Sanders, faculty advisor for the team, said, “I’m extremely proud of the hard work that the students put in. It certainly paid off. They were recognized by the judges and the audience for their storytelling and technical skills.”
William Boyle and Matt Bennett also served as faculty advisors for the team.
