Growing up in Cincinnati I’ve always been a fan of our sports. We have a great sports tradition, and it continues today. The Cincinnati Bearcats have been a big part of that tradition, mainly through basketball, but football has taken the city by storm recently. I’m a sports-lover and can’t get enough football or basketball. However, with the great tradition that we have as a college-basketball town, I cannot believe what I’m seeing on a UC campus.
Anyone who has class in the Pavilions here at RWC probably knows what I am talking about. The basketball court is in horrible condition. RWC has a small campus, but it should want to have a nice place for students to enjoy the nice weather we have been having. The basketball court should undergo a complete renovation. This should include new pavement, hoops, and lines.
I also think basketballs should be available to rent for students. This is just one thing that Raymond Walters should do to improve campus life for students. Enrollment is up this year, which is a great thing. But students are still getting a tuition increase and we should see some of that money we are paying go straight into the campus.
A revamped basketball court with benches or stands for people to sit could do great things for the campus if it is done properly. It will not be an expensive process for the school, which means it’s low-risk high-reward for RWC. The courts will keep students on campus and that should give the café more business.
This would benefit everyone involved and is something Raymond Walters College needs to do to keep our campus looking good and our students happy.
