My World: Surviving Exam Week

The end of the Spring Quarter is coming; along with that are papers, quizzes, and the dreaded final exam. Exam week is a great stressor due to the demand and pressure it puts on everyone to do well. This article contains my few suggestions that, if applied, will help with exam week stress. First, make an outline of everything you have to do: school, homework, family, work, household responsibility, anything that would preoccupy your mind from studying (including boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, and children).

Then re-examine your outline and truly decide what has to be done and what is not as important to accomplish at this time. Second, make an outline for all your classes and the exam material. Ask your professor to highlight the very important material that will be on the exam. These exams are usually the highest percentage weight for the grade during the quarter, so you need to study at least a few hours overall to ensure that you have a basic knowledge of the material.

Third, prepare! Have everything-clothes, shopping, grocery, and the weekly things-handled so that you will not be preoccupied somewhere else.

After all the stress of the exam week, you have to take a break. You have to have your body, mind, and emotions all settle down after the stress and fatigue that comes with exam week. The break is a reward, so enjoy it however you like.
