I get easily distracted, so, consequently, I procrastinate a lot. Procrastination runs my life. I seem to procrastinate all the time and with everything I do. For example, I procrastinated writing this article. I don’t really know why I procrastinate; I guess it just runs in my family, or maybe I just love to put things off. The thing I love about procrastinating is the rush and the pressure, just not the stress. Whenever I do a paper ahead of time, I always think to myself: “It’ll be fine. I have plenty of time.”
While this is true, this usually causes me to be lax and not put forth much of an effort. If I am procrastinating, however, and the paper is due tomorrow, my mind is running a million miles an hour. I feel like I can think more clearly and write a better paper, article, etc.
In fact, I almost always get a better grade on a paper that I did the night before than a paper that has been finished for days. Crazy, huh?
Speeches, on the other hand, are terrible things to procrastinate on, in my case. I learned this today in my Sociology class. While I believe that I eventually got my point across, there were a lot of accompanying “uhhs” and “umms.”
While procrastinating is not the healthiest of habits, and it can often stress you out, I kind of enjoy procrastinating. It gives me motivation to focus on a paper and get work done.
