Students Honored at Ceremony

On May 21, 2010, RWC Student Life and Student Government hosted the annual College Student Awards Ceremony. Students were honored for their excellence in academia as well as student involvement and service to RWC.Pamela Lineback, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, welcomed the recipients, family, faculty, and guests to the ceremony. Alicia Brown, Student Government Secretary, was the Master of Ceremonies and told of the perseverance and diligence of all the recipients, noting the struggles she faced with the passing of her mother this year.

The award ceremony consisted of many recipients with some notable standouts. Aileen Guillen and Thelma Hodge were awarded the Outstanding Student of the Year award.

Andrea Kornbluh, Professor of History, presented the Department Honor Award for History, Art History, Philosophy, and Political Science to Daniel Carper. In her presentation, she recounted his academic successes as well as service to the college. She concluded with his effort to bring the Proudly Pennies campaign to RWC and asked the audience to donate pennies in his honor.

Interim Dean Donald O’Meara and Interim Associate Dean Marlene Miner presented the honor cords to all of the Honor Graduates.

Dean O’Meara closed the ceremony with congratulations to all of the recipients.
