I personally am glad to know that non traditional students are being recognized for their hard work and academic skills, because my mother is a non-traditional student. I think most non-traditional students feel that they have to perform well because, one, they’re older than most students and they have no time to waste, and, two, for the majority of them, this is their second or third shot at college, so they have to succeed. Surprisingly, for the past couple of years, I have been seeing more non-traditional students enrolling back into college to finish a degree or get a higher degree, because in more and more work fields you have to have some type of degree to get a job.
I know of my friends who say, “they should have gone to school when they had the chance to.” But for some non-traditional students, this is their chance to go to college and look forward to graduating with a degree under their belt.
I think it is very important for everyone to get an education. No matter what age you are, you’re never too old to learn.
