For the third consecutive year, Elizabeth Klein, a recent Electronic Media Technology graduate, has won the Student Emmy Award from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).This unexpected third consecutive award was earned for Klein’s capstone project: “Alice: A Mad Tea Party.” Also recognized in the award citation are R. Aaron Allen (audio engineer), David Bailey (music composer), and the advising faculty of Electronic Media Communications, including H. Michael Sanders, Dave Hubble, David Hartz, William Boyle, and Eric Anderson.
Klein completed “Alice: A Mad Tea Party” as part of her Associate of Applied Science degree program in Electronic Media Technology. This stop-motion animation project was also part of the application portfolio she submitted to gain acceptance to the respected animation program at California Institute for the Arts this past fall.
The award-winning students and faculty attended the 46th annual Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards ceremony, which took place on July 31 in Columbus, Ohio.
The Student Awards Committee also acknowledged the excellent work by RWC Electronic Media students Joel Gross and Leslie McVey for their animation project, “A Noteable Adventure.”
Other Electronic Media Communications students nominated for Student Emmy Awards this year included Tamara Allegra-Smith, R. Aaron Allen, and Daniel Sammons, Jr. for Animation & Graphics Composite, Joshua Katz for “Son of a Naked Gun,” Carrie Reynard for “Shadow Witch,” and Farooq Ahmad, Tamara Allegra-Smith, R. Aaron Allen, Derek Holland, Leslie Hurst, Jaeson Jackson, Daniel Sammons, Jr., Daniel Smith, Greg Whitacre, and Jennifer Whitacre for “What Ain’t Yours.”
