RWC Participates in Presidential Award for Volunteerism

RWC has teamed up with hundreds of organizations to show appreciation for hard working volunteers who meet the criteria for being eligible for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. In 2003 President George W. Bush and the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation created a program to recognize valuable contributions volunteers have made towards bettering our communities. The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes volunteers who have demonstrated stellar community service work and motivate other volunteers to better the community by teaching science, technology, and foreign languages to local elementary school students, assisting persons with developmental disabilities, and assisting with various health initiatives.

To be eligible to receive the award, applicants’ service hours must be confirmed by a registered Certifying Organization. To qualify for the award, volunteers must submit a record of their service hours to the College. The requirement for service hours accumulated is that they are completed within a 12-month period.

There are three levels of the award, varying by hours of service completed within that 12-month period. Individuals who have completed 4,000 or more community service hours over the course of their life time are eligible to receive the President’s Call To Service Award.
