When older people decide to continue to further their education, that signifies to me that they are mature beings. No matter the age, people are going back to college after being out for a long time. The deciding factor in the decision is realizing that a person will get nowhere in life with only a diploma or GED. It is common to find people in a class who are between the age of 25 and 45 pursuing their education once more.
These students, whom we call non-traditional, should be applauded for their dedication and hard work. So the next time you see people in your class who are older than usual, don’t judge. Just imagine their story and applaud them for continuing to educate themselves.
