The Veterinary Technology program hosted two open houses on October 12 and 13 to celebrate and recognize outstanding animal care provided in the profession. Visitors were able to meet the faculty and staff, snack and tour the Vet Tech program as well as enter the “Name the Horse” contest. The horse is located just inside the VT building entry.A veterinary technician supports veterinarians, researchers and other scientists as they work in various fields of animal care and medicine.
The Vet Tech program at RWC was established in 1969. In the past forty years, they have graduated over one thousand veterinary technicians. According to the Ohio Workforce Informer website, www.ohioworkforceinformer.org, there is a projected 27 percent increase in need for veterinary technicians and technologists from the year 2004 to 2014. Veterinary technology was also recently listed number two in the book “150 Best Recession-proof Jobs.”
The event was well received and the horses’ new name is Ramón Walter. This name was chosen partly to carry on the tradition of naming horse models with Spanish type names.
