On Thursday, November 18, the Blue Ash Police Department, in cooperation with UC Police will sponsor a self-defense seminar at RWC titled “Choose Courage, Not Fear!”The session will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the RWC theater, Muntz 119. The presentation is geared for adults and students in 6th Grade and older; there will be a special emphasis on teaching parents how to be “courage coaches” in order to instill their children with confidence and realistic safety. The seminar is open to all, and the cost is $5 per person.
It will be led by Debbie Gardner, a former local police officer and co-author of “Raising Kids Who Can Defend Themselves.” During the event, she will cover simple techniques for protecting yourself, including the power of breathing, how to focus when faced with danger, how to deal with different types of dangerous attackers, and how to cope with the aftermath of a bad situation.
