Student Parent Support Group Helps Kids at One Way Farm

The RWC Student Parent Support Group (SPSG) wanted to support One Way Farm’s Children’s Home to provide much needed socks and underwear for children at the residence. One Way Farm is a shelter for children, providing residential care all year long. As an agency it provides an Animal Education Therapy Program, an Employment Training Program, Counseling Services and a Youth Program to further the healing of children. One Way Farm is a non-profit corporation, located in Butler county, that is licensed by Job & Family Services. It has served approximately 8,500 children since its beginning in 1976. As parents, members of the SPSG chose to help One Way Farm for its service project this year during National Non-traditional Student Week, November 1-5.

New pairs of socks and underwear were not only purchased, but each item was given a special touch. On November 3, in the Muntz Lobby, SPSG members and even compassionate passers-by wrote inspirational messages on stickers and placed them on each pair of socks and underwear donated.

The goal was to let each child know that he or she is special, loved, cared about, and could have hope for a bright future. As parents, SPSG members realize the importance of every child growing up with a positive self image. They wanted to express their wishes for the best for all the children at One Way Farm.
